man i dont know why i was so nervous the truck pulled like a dream i did a steady 75 mph all the way home and it was like the trailer wasnt even on the truck i cant wait to tow again lollol.. my only question is i found it to have alot more power with the od off as it seemed like it shifted alot better radther than winding out in 2cnd and 3rd gear is there any problem with towing on the highway with overdrive off?? like i said once i took overdrive off it seemed like the truck could tow 2000 more pounds

will run you OVER
its actually hard on the tranny when it goes into 4th. it reduces the engine speed when at high rates of speed to save fuel. when its on and your pulling a trailer the tranny will shift gears "hunting" to find the right gears to run in. when you have it on and want to pass a slow car you hit the gas and it downshifts and then you have power and go, then when you slow down itll shift yet again.
when your input speed (the engine) is turning slower than the output shaft (driveshaft) you actually have less tq. when on a dyno the cars are not in OD, theyre in 3rd or 4th and sometimes 5th depending on the car, they try to get the gear ratio closest to a 1:1 so the measurements will be close to the actual numbers.
when you turn OD off you have the tq right there where you need it and the tranny will do a lot less "hunting" since at 70 3rd is great and if your making it shift into 2nd...your really wanting to go, at a higher RPM (without over doing it) your going to have your max tq, in which you have great acceleration- hence why before a drag you rev up to get to the tq range you need to lauch like a rocket..
be safe when towing, its a lot of fun like you found out
please correct me if Im wrong..
