Lifts and mpg

I've got 14" of lift on 39's and get better mileage than some stock trucks on here, it's all about gearing and performance mods... But if ya don't wanna spend some money and just throw a lift on and some tires yes your fuel economy will suffer

Kinda what ^that guy said. F-150's have poor (but better than dodge ) MPG, and honestly there are so many people with lifted F-150's that get the same gas mileage, if not more than non-lifted F-150's. Whatever your question maybe, I didn't read your topic, lift your truck, it's worth it!

Given the same driver and same driving circumstances, yes mileage will suffer with a lift and big tires. taller truck = less aerodynamic = more wind resistance, and heavier tires = more rolling mass/pavement friction = more torque required to move = more fuel consumption to create torque. Simple physics.

The lift hurts a little but its mainly the big tires and wheels that go with it.
I just put a 6in lift with 35in Nittos and 20in wheels. I lost aboout 3.5mpg
You can regear and get them back, though.

"Lift Kits" and "Good Gas Mileage" should never be used in the same sentence...Unless you're saying, "Lift kits DO NOT lead to good gas mileage"
Like mentioned above, the lift alone won't hurt it THAT much, its the bigger, heavier tires that kill your mpg. As far as your truck is concerned, a tire that's twice as big and twice as heavy as stock will take twice as much work to get them moving..
Depending on how big of tires you go, you can re-gear to get back to close to factory, but expect a pretty drastic drop in mpg's..
Even with just a leveling kit and 34" tires on mine, I went from 14.5-15mpg to 12.5-13 mpg

I've got friends that pull better than stock mileages in their lifted diesels. I mean, they are seeing 25 mpg out of trucks with 4" lifts running 35's. That being said, the trucks are also tuned with all emissions deleted plus they have 1000 extra pounds of bumpers and headache racks on them. Personally, height doesn't have much to do with it.
