Budman1962,
My winter tires are Capitol Precision Trac II, M&S.
Tread is not real aggressive but they make a nice difference for winter driving.
Summer tires are Firestone Destination A/T. They run a little quieter, are larger and look much better than the Capitols. Also on nicer wheels that normally do not see winter weather.

you could “RhynoGuard” or LYNEX coat this and they would be bullet proof

Seriously though is it really necessary with a 4x4? I just got my truck this year but the 2 times i've had to drive in snow i put it in 4 high and had no troubles at all.
4x4 with 4-auto, 404 problem not found, just put it in 4-auto and leave it there

Yeah I realize somebody bumped a 3+ year old thread, but I guess it's at least the right time of year

I have two 35 gallon plastic barrels I lay in a 2x4 frame and fill with water. (585 lbs) But this year I am going to put 1/2 yard of sand in bed then if I need sand for ice situation,I have it. Low profile and easy to remove.

Didn't take a photo of the skid I made Friday with 8 cement blocks on it. It was like 32" x 32" , I strapped the blocks to the skid and sit it in my truck with forks on my tractor. Were getting snow now. I'll plow in the morning. Then get the tractor and lift it out. Takes like 10 minutes. I'm guessing a block is 30 lbs. x 8 =240 lbs hardwood skid is 20 lbs anyway. It lowered my truck slightly when I loaded it. But not much.

Go to your local grocery store... get a couple cases of water to keep back there. Rotate out as you use them. And They'll be nice and cold... or frozen, lol.

I've got a stack of 16x16 inch patio bricks to place over the rear axle. I have even shoveled snow, filling up the bed to add weight for traction. What I don't want to do is take my new 2019 out on the roads after the county has laid down ton of salt.
