Winter Tires

Finally got the rims in (after first order got lost in shipping, and second order sent me 15 inch rims, LOL) to mount my snow tires. Going to try studded for the first time since I have to travel 50 miles of bush road every week.

I cheaped out and didn't pay the $400 for tire pressure sensors for these rims. (Was told by tire shops not to buy the cheaper aftermarket ones because they never stay working)

Anyway, will I just have to cancel out the message on the dash every time I start the truck, or can you turn it off?

if the sensors are not detected, that warning will always come up

Should have spent some more time reading the forum, nobody pays $400 for TPMS sensors, and installing them when changing tires is easy.

Yeah I got ford sensors on ebay for a lot less than that....

Just checked a set of 4 goes for $35. Who quoted you $400 for TPMS, based on that price I would hate to see what you paid for your tires.

I sure hope you didn't order wheels from the same shop that told you about the sensors.

I sure hope those rims are at least 17 inch! Get the sensors - sure sometimes they fail in my experience, but you aren't going to get the dash warning to go away until you have some installed. It will literally be staring you in the face every time you drive the truck. Or just get out the electrical tape and go nuts!

Paid $1400 for rims and tires. Yes they are 17 inch. Remember, I'm in Canada so I pay double the prices I see in the States.

I have a couple friends that run a couple different tire shops and they told me don't bother with the aftermarket sensors. Said they are junk and never stay working? They are $35 here at the parts stores.

Ford dealer was the one that quoted $400 for 4 of them.

The stock Wranglers actually performed very well in the snow and on ice. But I just wanted to get my stock rims off before the salt and de-icing chemicals messed them up.

Was just checking.....someone told me that TPMS could be shut right off. I guess not then?
