Window Switch Repair

I had a problem with the rear passenger window...originally, from the drivers switch, but then the rear switch too. Took the drivers switch out, cleaned the contacts (fairly blackened) and replaced. Nothing. Popped the rear switch plate off the armrest, and viola! Plug not connected. It seems the locking tab is missing, and was only held in by a "friction connection". Eventually, the plug just dropped out from door slams, rough roads, etc. Plugged it back in, and both switches work fine now.
Wow, just gotta love the internet. Been shopping for these things for some time, even got stiffed by one E-bay seller.
Took me longer to get the first one apart and back together right that it did to fix the other two combined.
All good, spectacular. If the OP is ever in BC look me up, the beers on me!!

On my 2008 F150, once out of the door, no one here that I could find explained how to open the case that houses these switches. I had a dickens of a time trying to figure it out. I'd pry at the obvious "U" shaped tabs, but the switches base wouldn't come out of the housing. The whole unit is made up of 3 parts as I found out....the outer box (back), the framework with the openings for the switches (top), and the base that the switches and circuit boards are on (in between).
When trying to remove the back case, pry on the 3 tiny wedge shaped "clips" on each side. They're the ones that hold the circuit board/switches platform to the back box. The "U" shaped tabs hold the circuit board/switch platform to the frame with the switch openings. Once the tiny wedges have been separated from the circuit board/switch platform, the whole thing comes out. Then pry on the "U" shaped tabs to separate the circuit board/switches platform from the switch openings frame. But before they come apart, you need to pull off the rocker buttons and the dust covers off the switches. They just pop off. WARNING: DON'T PULL THE BUTTON OF THE WINDOW LOCK (ON/OFF) SWITCH. This part is not removable from the top framework. Unfortunately I didn't know that when pulling off the buttons, and I broke mine on the platform side, not the switch shaft. Hopefully some krazy glue will hold the little broken piece back on the housing. I wish I had known about this part beforehand.
Hopefully this will make things simpler and easier for others. I then proceeded to take the switches apart, clean the contacts, and put them back together.

if you could can you send / post the link for schematic
I have 05 f150 fx4 all master drivers door switchs and all other window switchs went out at same time. also when opening drivers door, radio stays on which leads me to believe its more than just a circuit breaker. the schematic will give me trouble shooting start points thanks in advance

Thanks for posting the how to. My drivers side window would go down but over the last few weeks it was hard to get it back up. I cleaned the contacts and now it works great. Thanks for your help!!
I had the same problem with my 2004 F150. After cleaning the contacts many times, I did do some searching and found the complete switch assembly at www.switchdoctor.net for $22.50 including shipping. Took 10 min. to replace and it works just fine.
Add me to the list of disgruntled FixOrRepairDaily owners. I have an 05, which I've had since 08. Two problems with window switches:
1. Ever since I bought it, the window switch in the front passenger door has been fubar. However, the master window switch in the driver's door panel operates all three passenger windows so I've ignored it.
2. Then the driver's window switch started doing the same as everyone else's - go down but not back up, unless you pushed and wiggled and jiggled to get it in just the right position. Finally it stopped working at all, up or down.
4. Finally got around to wasting a bunch of time tonight trying to fix it, as per all the tips in this thread. Now the 'up' function works like a damn. Problem is that the window is already all the way up and the 'down' function is now buggered.
BTW, as someone else noticed, one of the black spring-loaded plastic pins was worn down a few mm, so I thinks "Hmmm - I'll just replace that one with one from one of the back window switches but when I popped the white nylon gizmo out of its saddle - yup, you guessed it. Both black pins went flying and are now hidden somewhere in the black interior of my 4 door cabin. I think a new switch panel is in order.
5. So, I figured since I had such good luck on the driver's switch, I'd try the one in the passenger door. Took it off and checked the contacts - they're pristine. No wonder, I don't think the switch has ever worked. Just for the helluvit I took my mini screwdriver and pushed down hard on the contacts, one at a time. Down, easy. Up - not so easy. The mechanism inside the door was really labouring to push that window up, and my little driver got hot as Hell.
I'm thinking that maybe I've got a problem with the window motor, or ...???
I haven't gone to the Switch Dr. yet, but if they don't sell motors, any suggestions on where to find one?
