When my driver's window would go down but not always up, I checked on this forum and found that it was a common problem. I went to the dealer and inquired about the price for a switch $137.00. I bought one on-line from Switchdoctor (came in a Ford box) $72.00. I installed it myself in about 5 minutes......and I'm just a girl.

Question

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong thing, but aren't you disassembling the power lock switch, not the power window switch? The lock switch node is the smaller black assembly - the one you have. The window switch is the larger black assembly behind it. Not sure how cleaning the lock switch contacts makes the window work. I must be missing something.

Problem on mine, seems the "up" lever on my driver side window doesn't engage. All other switches have a distinctive "click", but the driver side window switch is mushy and doesn't feel like it's engaging anything.

Right now I'm trying (without much luck) to disassemble the larger power window assembly (not the smaller power lock node) to see if I can find out why the switch is not engaging.

Amazon search for a replacement 2007 Power Window Switch (part #5L1T-14540-ABW) runs $35. I just may do that.

Wellll, this cleaning worked for about a month before the problem started again. Looks like I will need to replace the actual switches since the contact appeared worn when I disassembled them.

I see where several of you have purchased inexpensive replacements online but feel like $35 - $75 per switch may get a lil costly when I am looking at three or four of these.

Anyone got a line on a reasonable reseller?

gabugman,

I too cleaned the posts on my controls (driver's side only) but also noted it only lasted a week or two before they stopped working again. And of course, the window would go down and not up and happened at a time when I desperately needed it to go up (snowing or raining).

I just ordered the driver's side switch last week. Below is the link from ebay. It is a Ford OEM product and like other's mentioned...it took < 5 minutes to install as it is a direct plug and play with the existing wiring. I didn't think the price was too bad and the shipping was free.

I hope this helps.

Thanks lost in WI!

I have already ordered replacements from the switch Dr. for around the same price. I opted not to go with (evidently) **** poor quality OEM replacements and instead purchased the Window Master brand. It has a lifetime warranty compared to one year and can't possibly be as *****ty as the Ford product!

Ordered Wednesday and arrived Friday!

I just did this today and it works great. I had a ton of black residue on the contacts of the broken switch. Cleaned it right up and I'm good to go. Thanks for the writeup.

Which window isn't working? Did you clean both the switch for that window as well as the main switches on the drivers door? They work in tandem.

I only cleaned the main switch, so I'll try cleaning all the other switches and

see what will happen.
