Alright. I've seen a lot of people have been having problems with their window switches. If your truck is under warranty, take it to the dealer. If you don't want to go deal with those idiots and have the least bit of mechanical skill, here's how you do it:

1. Use a small flat head screwdriver and pry under the edge of the switch panel closest to you (pic 1). Disconnect the connectors. Out it comes.
2. Use a tiny flat head screwdriver and pry the switch out of its place in the switch panel. (Pic 3)
3. Using the same tiny flat head screwdriver pry off the button itself. (pic 5)
4. Pull out the little clear plastic cover.
5. Pry the cover off of the switch with your tiny screwdriver. (pic 8)
6. It should look like pic 9 now.
7. Next take your tiny screwdriver and shove it in your...oh, sorry, pry the white switch piece out as in pic 10. It should look like pic 11 now.
8. Notice how the contactors go in and then turn the housing over and tap out the metal contactors as in pic 12.
9. It should look a lot like pic 13 (the pic is of my lock switch, yours will have four contacts in it). Contactors shown in pic 14.
10. Use your same tiny flat head screwdriver and scrape off the black corrosion on the contacts in the switch housing.
11. Use a small fingernail file or piece of sandpaper and lightly sand off the black corrosion.
12. I used Dielectric Tuneup Grease for mine but you can use petroleum jelly if you don't have it. Lightly coat the contacts of your housing with a q-tip or small screwdriver. **you only want to leave a thin film on the contacts, not a "blob"**
13. Reassemble the reverse of disassembly and there you have it. Working window and/or lock switches.

I've had this problem for about 3 years or more now. I just got use to having to really push mine hard to make the window go up. Luckily the switch has never actually stopped working.

all my passengers windows dont work, this was very easy to do but no luck for me.........i can operate all my windows from the drivers side, but none of my other switches seem to "click" anymore like my drivers side. i took all of them out and cleaned them as told in this thread. should i just go buy switches for the other three passenger doors? by the way i have an 05 f150 crew.

Well, you see all that is involved in the switches. It's four contacts. If those are good and your connection to the switch is good, you can check the springs in the bottom of the white switch piece. If it's broken, by all means, go buy new switches. If not, you have a power problem. Whether its through your window lock switch or not, I can't say. Just that it's probably not the switch itself. I found the schematic for the '05 online in .pdf format and can do some research or get the link to it for you. Up to you. Let me know how it works out for you.

Also...I'm going to go up to my original post and add something. You only want a very thin film of grease or whatever you use on the contacts, not a "blob." I made that mistake the first few times I did this.

Did they all stop working at once? Is the lock button on on the driver's door?

Thanks for the tutorial on switch cleaning. Both my back door windows wouldn't work, cleaned the switches and I'm back in buisness. Know anything about the mirror switch? Both my mirrors quite working. 06 F-150 supercab XLT.
