will ford ever make a change
#2
Why would they, the stupid little forward hinge half doors that other manufacturers use are worthless. At least with the Ford the whole side of the cab opens up. And with the new doors opening approx 180 degrees against the bedside the door shuffle is no longer an issue. I hope they never change it.

And, I only wish they would put them back in place for regular cabs. That little extra bit of access makes a big difference. Coming from owner of 2007 F-150 with the access doors and a 2013 F-150 without them.

For me the Supercab/Suicide Door version is the only version I've ever had or will ever want. Nice long bed yet still fits in my garage, the ability to open both doors for an uninterrupted loading space (I recently used it to my advantage to transport a large flat screen TV inside the cab on a rainy day) and in the 16 months I've had my truck, I've had someone in the more compact rear seating area exactly...once!

It seems to me getting in/out of the rear seat with suicide doors would be much easier than the miniature crew cab doors. Even on a Tacoma crew cab, for example, I typically have enough room to sit in the back seat (depending on the front seat position), getting in and out is really annoying. There's just not enough room for my feet to slide out easily.

My only complaint about the suicide doors is when in town and there's no room to open the rear door 90 degrees. Much less all the way back to 180. So the driver and rear passenger is trapped between the front and rear door. Not a huge problem as the driver can just stay seated and let the passenger move forward and close the door. But it does happen a lot with me, as I drive 4 coworkers to lunch every friday.
We took a coworkers '15 Ram extended cab with the forward opening rear door and while the seating was tighter than my Supercab, and the door opening is definitely small, at least getting out of the back is basically the same as getting out of the front and only the driver gets trapped in the little door triangle until the rear closes.
But for loading my dog kennel in the back seat, there's no way it would ever fit without the 180degree rear door and no B-pillar.
