You who burn fuel caused the hurricane. I've never punched a woman. She would be the first if I could of reached through the radio.
I had a 2007 spare car that got 38 mpg. I'd park it in the winter and use it in the summer. This year it sit for nearly 3 months , I just liked using my truck so much more. I sold it. I'll drive what I Want. And public radio can shove it.

It's funny because those lifted, gas guzzling trucks in those hurricanes are some of the only vehicles in the affected area that didn't get water damaged and drove around in the streets helping people get out of their homes.

^ Yup. Pointed that out on here before myself. Then there was that huge convoy of trucks/boats/campers that joined together and went down there. (Forget their name)

I remember seeing something about that, while we're off topic and talking about helping people affected by the hurricane. A YouTuber called Off The Ranch went down to Texas with jet skis and hauled people around. He had built this thing for the back of his Ford raptor for camping but ended up filling it with food, diapers, hygiene products, etc and going down to Texas to distribute them and help people get out of their homes. He even donated all of the profits from the video to a relief group. An awesome video everyone should definitely check out. Plus, by watching it, you are in a way, donating the group helping in the relief efforts.

It is really interesting to watch, crazy to see how dilapidated the city is.

I think truck owners make that "double standard" worse on themselves by not being honest.

You see a lot of guys out there justify a truck they don't really need by making up silly excuses like "I hunt and fish and redneck are supposed to drive trucks" or "I need one for that one time I remodeled my kitchen 4 years ago" or "I own a Harley that needs hauled wherever I go because it's too uncomfortable to ride".

For most of us the answer should just be "I want one and it makes my life easier".

I know darned well most truck owners could get by fine with a Honda Accord and renting a truck the few times they actually need it. But you'll never hear one admit to that. And non-truck owners know better, and that's why they give us crap.

I drive a truck because I want to, and it makes my life easier.

But I did own a 4-door sedan for 3 years. I only put about 1,000 miles on my truck during that time.

Nice rationalization.:jester:

Until about 20 years ago I drove sedans. I moved to Expeditions to solve a very specific problem - transporting lots of kids frequently. Now that I am not president of one of the booster clubs and no longer have lots of kids I am responsible for, I am going to drive a truck because I expect it to solve issues I am already having that involve towing. That being said, it is MY choice.

Now as far double standards go, I really don't give a hoot WHAT you drive as long as you get out the way of progress, don't run me off the road, and are gracious enough to be kind to other drivers. The folks who refuse to live by and with those standards endanger others, and I don't like them at all.

I bought mine so I can occasionally haul my kayak, and some fishing poles, and couldn't care less what anybody else thought haha

When hurricane season comes and they can't get plywood on top of their Prius they'll be thanking you.

The double-standard - if you ask me - is a two-fold problem.

1. There are too many truck owners with too much testosterone, and think that if you're not doing "burly man things" with your truck every day, you don't deserve to drive one because you're not a real man, and only real men drive trucks.

2. The other part of it is people just being pissy that they can't get a truck for less money these days when all they want it for is "work". They are mad that so many people want trucks these days to double as work and luxury vehicles ... which has driven prices up since all the R&D and engineering required for our modern trucks adds so much cost to the overall product. This faction of people feels like it's all of us who don't strictly use our trucks for work every day that have caused the truck prices to go through the roof, and now they have to pay $35K for a "base model truck".

Anyway ... like most everyone here has said ... I don't care what anyone thinks about my decision to drive a truck. It's my money and my choice. You don't like it, tough. I'm not losing any sleep over it, that's for sure.

There is NO car I would prefer to have over my truck.
