Default Much thanks to you all.....

I'll tell you, it's really tough.... Of course all of you guys love your Fords, but so do a whole bunch of my best friends ! And one of my mechanic friends too !

Then I turn around and have two of my other mechanic friends tell me, "Dude ! The Toyota is a much better truck, yada, yada, yada.....

All of this leaves me wondering, is any one of these trucks SO bad, and the other SO good ? Or are their a lot of personal preferences involved here ?

One thing is for sure...... and it's so big of a deal to me, I think it just has to have a seperate thread....

Please read my next post, "Had an interesting experience this morning.....

Peace,
Fish

ill start by sayin i love my FX4

but i'll never say anything bad about a yota .. i have owned 4 of them and put over 250k on each of them with that being said they were the small trucks
and the newest one being a 93 bought new and was sold w/ over 260k on it and still ran as good as the day i bought it... the only reason i sold it was because my wife and i took in 2 of her cousins and i had to have a bigger truck... then got a gmc and sold it 2 years later and got the FX4....
the FX4 is way better than the Z-71..... cant tell ya much about the full size yotas tho but i have heard they arent built like the old yotas i had

Im basis my opinions on talking to actualy Tundra owners who arent very happy with their trucks.
Consider this as well, Consumer Reports rates the Tundras as a, "would not recommend" because of all the problems it has.
Also, the F-150 was recently named, "most dependable fullsize truck" by J.D. Power.
I know I sure as heck wouldnt buy a Tundra. Toyota's quality aint what it used to be...

Default Hey gr8hntr....

I thought I drove a lot ! I'm 43, and I've calculated that I'm at about 800,000 miles for all of the vehicles I've owned, combined. The most miles I ever put on a vehicle was 257,000 for a chevy S10, with a 2.8 V6. Next is my current Toyota Tacoma, with 216,000 and it's running worse than the Chevy did, with 257K on it.

Anyway, I might go test drive the F150 tomorrow, if I get weathered out on my fishing trip.....

Peace,
Fish

What you need to do is go get your buddies with an F150 and a Yoda. Put the same load on both rigs and see how different they handle. Try hitting the highway, city streets and a few parking lots. It's going to come down to personal preference no matter what anybody else says, so get a good "feel" for what you're getting. I bought a Ford because my dad's Titan sucks for towing. If I wanted a truck for a high priced status symbol that would probably never see a trailer, the Titan and Tundra might have been the ride for me. Try asking one of the dealerships to let you tow around a load and see how it handles, that might make your decision for you.

I just got a card from my dealership today telling me to come to there 10 year aniv. party on may 3rd. food and beverages and then in big letters
$7000 in rebates on the 2008 f150s. Thats a heck of a savings. In compairson to 2 other dealerships around me, they saved me an additional 4k on my truck when I bought it new.

Default Hey gnardo....

Yes, that's huge ! My parents were just saying the same thing about the F150 rebate in Louisiana right now. The rebate here right now is only $3500.... but if it increases at all, in the 4 to 6 weeks, while I'm waiting for my truck to arrive, I will get that savings too. Of course if it went down, I'd lose out... but that's not to likely, as the closer it gets to the release of the 09's, the more incentive they have to get rid of the 08's quick.

Yea', with an extra $3500 on the rebate, I might be able to have some custom wheels built from scratch, that fit my truck, and that I actually liked :-( Still going crazy over that.... but that's a whole other thread.....

Peace,
Fish
