why does f150 cost so much more than gmc sierra
i'm looking to buy either a f150 platinum or a gmc sierra slt
before 2017's arrived i was seeing the f150 around $7k more than a similarly equipped sierra
with all the 2016 discounts now i'm seeing $8+k difference
i can get a 2017 sierra (7k off msrp) for less than a discounted 2016 f150
so help me understand what i'm getting for all those extra dollars
a few things i've seen not available on the sierra are keyless entry/ignition, 360 camera, & massage seats, tailgate step. but those don't add up to $8k
for those that compared ford & gmc, why did you buy a f150
looking for some concrete answers, not "i've always driven ford & there's no better" or "my last gmc sucked"
this is not a troll, i'm trying to make a real decision here on where to dump around $50k

Yeah, the Denali would be a better comparison. The SLT would be comparable to the F-150 XLT.
If you truly want the engine performance in the Sierra, you will also need to go with the 6.2.

What 67GTONUT and Nyron said... you're comparing apples and oranges. The platinum is one of the highest models for the F150 whereas the SLT is more of a mid range model for the Sierra.
I bought a Ford over Chevy/GMC because comparable models were $7k more for GM. I got a fully loaded XLT, just short of the center console, with heated seats, navigation, etc. for $37k when MSRP was $50k. The only truck comparable for price and options was Ram, but I was trading in a Ram so I didn't want to get the same thing. Plus I think the new F150's look best, and I have a lot of faith my 5.0 will last me a long time.

Because Ford don't take bailouts from the gov on taxpayers backs.

the lack of bailouts does not compel me to cough up an extra $7-8k, although it is admirable that ford was able to stand on its on
toyotas have better resale than ford, but i'm not looking to resale, i'm looking for a 12-15yr vehicle
all auto manufacturers use foreign labor. assembling foreign parts in america doesn't make a true american vehicle

i like the f150 better than the sierra & as petty as it sounds after driving toyota & lexus for 6 years i really don't want to start pulling out my key fob to unlock doors & crank vehicles. just trying to understand the pricing difference
