I had a nice Galaxy setup. 3 position power settings uppers/lowers/sidebands. I had it all tricked out. It was in a handheld toolbox next to my big box here at the shop. A water hose busted and filled the handheld box with water. I litterally did not find it until a month later because I did not know the hose busted. I was sooo pissed. I was going to install it in my truck and put my Cobra in my wifes truck.

Is it a magnetic base??? If so don't waste your time. They cannot ground properly and the reception will be crap. Use a good bumper or bed mount.

Yes it is a magnetic base. I found out that he bought it about 10 years ago from a pawn shop for a vacation that we took but never ended up using it because he bought a better one. It's just sitting in th garage now collecting dust.

CB radio's are a great way to talk to other CB enthusiast's while traveling. I have traveled many miles and have found having a CB radio very handy and very good to have in an emergency, especially if you don't have a cell phone.
I also have a CB on my '06 Honda Gold Wing motorcycle.
As far as using a magnet mount. I will not drill or clamp anything to the bed of my new '07 Screw. I had the same 130 watt Galaxy 95T radio in my '04 STX using a magnet mount and it worked fine. The gounding is done through the shielded coax cable. The metal body of a vehicle performs as what is known as a ground plane for the signal to bounce off of.
NGM, sorry to hear about your Galaxy radio.

Most Magnetic Mounts Wont Handle A Linear. So If Your Planning On Running Any Additional Power To Your Cb In The Future, I Would Stay Away From Magnetic Mount Antennas. Go With A Fire Stick Or A Whip.
