I placed a custom order for my first first brand new truck, a 17 F150 XL STX, SuperCrew, 6-1/2' bed, 5.0L, 4X4. It goes without saying that I am very excited for it to arrive, it is certainly testing my patience.
My official order date is 5/3/17. The Ford custom order tracking site shows that my truck is still in the "order processing" stage, with 28 days to estimated delivery. I am hoping this is a worst case scenario delivery wait.
I am hoping to hear from others who placed a custom order on how long it took for the truck to be delivered after placing your order. I am starting to go crazy waiting!
Ricktwuhk thank you for the thread link. Great looking truck DocFord. It sounds like the estimated delivery date they are giving me sounds about average, or better than average. I will keep trying to be patient, and checking ford order tracking every day. What should I expect for dealer prep time from the time it is delivered until it is ready for me to drive it away?

Took my dealer about 5 hrs, but I've heard some dealers will take up to a few days.
I ordered mine on April 14TH and took delivery on May 14TH. It took the dealership approximately 4-hours to get it ready. I was told that I was lucky to get it so quickly. Hope you enjoy your new truck!
Well, I guess I'll give you the Long Wait story....Back in 2010, I came into some money because of a wrongful death suit over my Dad. Not a large sum, but enough to pay off the house (between me, my sister and mother), pay off credit cards, bills, etc., and some left over for a few toys. One of them being my dream truck. Went out and test driven a few. Enough to know that it would be a F150 Lariat Supercrew. The 5.4 was OK, but didn't seem to have a lot of "Guts". Then Aha! The 6.2 will be available in several other F150's beside the Raptor in 2011! So, on Thursday Oct. 6th. 2010, I special ordered a 2011 F150 Lariat Supercrew, with the 6.2, Max Tow and 3.73LS rear. About the only things I didn't order were the Chrome package (didn't like the rims), bed extender, and the Off Road package (couldn't get it with the 6.2 in 2011). Delivery time was 6-8 weeks. Well, I took delivery on................wait for iiiiiiiiiiiit! Friday Jan. 21rst. 2011, 15 weeks later....Had something to do with parts being backordered on the 6.2 trucks. But it was more than worth the wait.
Well, the truck finally arrived, I went right after work and picked it up yesterday. Dealer prepped it in about 4 hours. I am very happy with it so far! The wait was getting long but it definitely feels worth it now. Here are some pictures.
