Bought mine to pull my bass boat. Used Ford vans to pull my boats since 1977. Traded my 2003 conversion van and sold my 1991 Ford Ranger 4x4 that i used for hauling things and winter driving. And it is just plain fun to drive.

Towing my boat to and from various lakes, as well as a "just in case" for the potential inclement weather here in the Ohio Valley.

Long bed, it's great for 4 wheelers, kyacks, fishing poles, and my mountain bikes.
You just can't do that with a car.

I don't usually use my truck for anything but driving then when summer comes around my jet ski and dirtbike are in ther a lot. And the tool box in the back is nice because I usually have anything people need to do light work. I've also probly went well over the load capacity once or twice.

But when I first purchased my truck I considered flipping it and selling for a car but I decided once it was gone I would need to use my parents truck over and over. And I don't realy trust the short bed walls of my 63 ranchero to actually hold anything

Inferior handling and power? My truck has more power and drives better than any other vehicle I've owned. That includes 5 Volvos's and 1 BMW.

And I drive a truck because I can. I've never used the bed to carry anything and I've never towed anything.

I use my truck for pulling a 29' long travel trailer. I also haul cargo for home improvements, camping, and recreation.

I use to have SUVs but found that their cargo areas were to small and not rugged enough for the cargo I needed to haul. Also the SUVs had low hitch weight ratings and lower tow ratings. I also wanted a stiffer suspension so when I was hauling or towing, it didn't look like I was riding a wheely from sag.

Now I love my truck, but let's face it, this truck doesn't handle like my previous Camaro, Firefird, or Mustang. Add to that not even a Dodge Neon, Ford Focus, or other car. Trucks aren't meant to be race cars so they aren't designed like them unless you buy a Ford Lightning or Dodge R/T truck. Add to that the expense of these trucks. I could had bought a luxury car for what I paid for my truck but a luxury car couldn't do anything but get from point A to B.

Also these trucks drink gas! I could save $200 - $300 a month if I drove a midsize or even a full size car over the truck, but once again they can't do anything but get from point A to B.

So I honestly can not understand why someone would pay so much more for a truck and get inferior handling and power, unless they really needed.

So I wanted to see in a poll who is the majority out there, people who actually use their trucks for their capabilities or just like to drive a truck.

For the record, even our late 2010 Mustang GT Premium Convertible was much cheaper than my truck and I must say, it was a bit more fun to drive as well, even if I felt like I was in a sardine can.

I like your answer... Plenty of these silly threads when others want to question why someone owns a certain type of vehicle... And then proceed to want to tell you how to use it..

At its 'ford rated' capacity and well beyond in some aspects. Some times of the year may have 10lbs of hitch weight, but she tows around 20k just fine.
The heaviest I seemed to taken a picture of is here on page 22 incase it takes you somewhere else. https://www.f150forum.com/f82/using-...58313/index22/
