Absolutely you can.
Then, you've got to find the lock it fits in.
Most folks Schlage or KwickSet etc locksets are keyed to be opened by one of about 10 keys. Your up the street neighbors keys will probably open your locks.
My house was broken into a few years ago. In the middle of the day they walked up the deck stairs, opened the screen door and kicked the back door and most of the frame into the kitchen floor. No key needed.
Now, there's an alarm and a large chocolate lab.
Yeah, keys can be duplicated from a picture, but I suspect that somebody so inclined to break into my house wouldn't want to go through that much trouble.
I'm going to save my worrying for something else.

LOL!!! If your chocolate is anything like my old yellow, there isn't more than a welcome wagon waiting for any potential burgler. Maybe if they made a move towards the bed, the couch, or her dish, there might be trouble, but otherwise...not really much more than a loud bark and a wagging tail.
She was a GREAT watchdog, but a HORRIBLE guard dog.

Same here, Cooper is a sweetheart.
A few weeks ago I watched a couple of kids come up the front steps to drop off some local campaign literature. Our front door was closed and from the outside it looked like nobody was home. JUST as one of the kids reached the porch, Cooper let out a series of sheet rock rattling barks. Scared me! BOTH kids jumped off the front porch. Little did they know that he'd have licked them to death.....
If I were thinking about kicking a door in, I'd go somewhere else to do it after hearing that bark though.

I wonder if Ford uses the same ignition switch vendor that caused the GM fiasco.
