What's the best thing to remove tire mounting lubricant?
I recently got my new tires and wheels mounted up, and the tire shop smeared their tire mounting lube all over a couple of the wheels. Almost looks like white grease or vegetable shortening. What's the best thing to get this off, does standard wheel cleaner remove it sufficiently or is it water soluble? I don't know anything about that stuff.

A solution of DAWN dish soap and a tire brush.
Also good for routine tire cleaning as well as engine detailing.

Water and a rag. Most tire lubricant is a form of soap, like dish soap or car wash soap. Never heard of grease being used, although who knows what a man might use if no tire lube is available. Regardless, it should wash off easily with a little car wash soap and water.

Garden hose with a nozzle, it is basically a water soluble soap.

Well I had the same shop mount the tires on my Mustang, and some of that tire lube was still hanging around after I'd washed it a couple times, that's why I was wondering. Kinda wanted to clean all that crap off before I put the wheels on the truck, so if a hose and a brush will take it off, that works.

If its a petroleum based lube, then the Dawn solution will work best.
