I am newbie here and have to vent about my frustration with every Ford dealer I have communicated with over the last two weeks. I am retired military and working/living in Italy and plan on purchasing a 2016-2018 F150 and have pretty much decided to go new at this point. When I find a truck on the net I like I send an email and very clearly and concisely explain my overseas scenario, I wish to know their best cash price, there will be no title or registration if used so just sign over the title and give me a bill of sale and if new I tell them all I need is the bill of sale and MSO/COO, I will wire funds from my US bank (either BoA or PenFed credit Union) and make arrangements for my shipper to pick up truck and deliver to port. And in all cases no sales tax because vehicle is for export, no warranty no nothing, just take my money and give me two forms and the keys. And I always ask for a picture of the two data plate stickers on the door jamb. Right now I am waiting on a response from Apple Ford in Columbia, MD as they are close to port (Baltimore) that I would ship from, but like the others there was initial contact and silence.

I get emails that ask me how and what state the vehicle will titled in, when I will be in to test drive and get my trade in looked at. Sometimes I get a response with no price and that they will get back with me and then I get two more emails from different people asking me why I have not responded and I reply I am still waiting on them to give me a price or send the picture or just understand the simplicity of the transaction. Then I get emails for days babbling about they want my business and again I reply how can I pay if they don't price or answer simple sales questions. Then I have to unsubscribe from the dealer to stop getting nonsensical emails. Are they all this way? Christ, I realize there are scammers and all that but I am pretty straight in my emails and don't call internationally to sit on hold for an hour, not gonna do it. I even send follow up emails asking them to confirm they got mine and they go silent. I can't waste $2K in a trip to the Sates right now just to dance in the show room,

I am just about done and have decided to head over to GMC and give them a chance.

Can you purchase through AAFES? That may eliminate some issues...

No, I am not associated with the base and they only sale to people on official orders or TDY and quite frankly are almost always much higher than buying from a dealer, at least in my years of experience with them. I am a resident of Italy and will import the truck (mega taxation) and register with Italian plates.

Your sale is unusual and different, so that's your problem. It's not Ford I don't think, it's individual dealers having issues.

I'd work on top volume dealers if it were me. I don't know if a non-US resident can buy via Ford's X-Plan, but that would take out all the BS on pricing.

I don't think it's Ford dealers. I think it's MOST car dealers in general. I've only found two over the years that I have had pleasant/painless experiences with. Just last week we were searching for a good deal on a GMC Acadia. I find a great deal online 300 miles away in Oklahoma. So I email and ask about delivery details if purchased. The first response is "Thanks for your interest! When can you stop by the store to discuss delivery?". So I call to explain that I won't be stopping by the store 300 miles away and I want to see if they deliver. Next response is "Delivery? I'm sure we can work out something and will let you know". Then I get another email saying "Please come by the store to discuss at your earliest convenience!". So I spent an extra $1200 and bought local that same day.

I could have sworn the year was 2018.........

Let me clarify, I am a US Citizen from Texas, I have legal residency in TX, I have residency in Italy as I physically living here. I am eligible for X Pricing as a disabled vet but have never looked into it. I don't need the dealer to be involved in the export, the sale is really just like selling to someone from another state. One dealer said "OK, we can help title in TX and charge the TX sales TX" to which replied thanks but no thanks, don't need tags. Again, it is just like you driving to another state to buy and taking it home on a trailer and then registering in your home state.

I really believe they just are not used to doing a cash deal long distance and don't want to waste time.
