This. Same reason why people live in nice houses with good looking exteriors compared to living in a shack with with mediocre exterior. Maybe that analogy sucks but I think you guys get the point =P.

Also, the leveling kit, wheels and tires ends up adding some value to the truck as many people out there like the look but do not want to do the work themselves.

Keep the cap, 4 inch lift, chrome 20's wrapped in 33-35" tires, tow mirrors, hidden winch. Or drive it as is, because honestly it doesn't look that bad

I dont think it looks bad either but as Ive gotten older Ive begun to appreciate stock more and more and I choose function over form most often. That said a set of wheels and tires is probably the single most effective mod for changing the entire look of a vehicle. The right combo can really set it off without having to do much more than that.

The old man topper would be the first to go to make it "cooler".

Why's it got to be an old man topper? Just because us old men are smart enough to have something utilitarian in nature doesn't mean you need to insult us. I love my topper keeps all my gear safe and dry on my way up north, when I kill people it's easier to take the dead bodies out into the woods to bury instead of trying to stuff them in a trunk. See there's lots of good reasons for a topper. ;-p

Ha ha yeah I have a topper too and have heard the grampa thing too but I dont care. Its really been the most functional thing Ive added to almost any truck Ive owned. I love my grampa topper.

Drive it into the nearest lake or river and collect the insurance!......... Kidding, just kidding! LOL.

I am with the rest, lift, tires, programer, maybe gears. The sky is the limit on what you can do, the only holdback is the money and if you want to sink a lot into it.
