lol
yeah i guess that'll work too.
so long as there isn't any cable. it's gotta be complete chain links.
i work in the oil patch, and i dread chaining up. we use heavy duty dual steering axle flat deck semis with a huge winch behind the regular cab.
these things are big enough to move a full sized 14 wide in 2 feet deep wet clay. and yea, they make bigger ones!
so, the best i can say, i'd have chained up with a 2wd, and would consider it with a 4x4, depending on the land i was going to drive over. i would also kick my passenger out(swamper) and make him walk 50 feet in front of me to make sure i could drive over it....
but friend, you learned a lesson the hard way that most of us already know useing common sense.... and that is,
the difference between 2wd and 4x4 is 100 feet!!!

Those street tires aren't going to cut it for what you're tryin' to do.... those don't even look m/s rated.

I like those old fords. A lot of tractor people say the older Fords aren't very good at working unless you just need them for bush hogging or a small plow and small set of disks. They say they don't pull much either. I still like them though and would love to have one one of these days. I just need to find me one with a front end loader.
Great looking tractor your Grandpa has there ! Wish i could come take it for a spin. I have a small collection of Ford tractor pics, would you mind if i ****** a copy of this pic ? I always like to ask permission first !

Thanks for the pic !!!! I noticed your name, are you by any chance from Portland Indiana ? If so do you ever visit the swap meet/show up there ? My cousin Brian goes every chance he gets. He is a certified or at least certifiably tractor nut. His favorites are the Alis Chamblis ? not sure on that Spelling lol and he loves the little Wheelhorse tractors as well.
Ford seems to be my pick though. I drove a small 8N and a newer Huge sumbit** with the full cab that would probably pull your house off its foundation if ya could hook to it and i just fell in love with them. I hated to give up the seat at the end of the day. Nothing beats a little seat time in a field plowing and planting or cutting and bailing hay. Best kind of therapy there is, its just you and your tractor and your thoughts....
Ok... Back to the truck stuff, Sorry i hijacked your thread !
