I've been a Ford guy from my first car, a 1965 Mustang beater that was my high school ride. Although I've owned a couple of Hondas (needed better gas mileage in college, and the 80's Fords left a bit to be desired in quality control), when it came to getting a pickup I looked at Ford first, and they had all the features I wanted.

My brother worked for Ford. So the A plan discount was a huge part. I had a s-10 that went through three clutches, oil pump, and cam shaft all before 110k.

I use to be a big ford guy owning many stangs including Cobra and a 2004 Mach 1...Then I found My old 2004 STi and became open to all brands ..no loyalty ...I listed my STi on craigslist and tasca ford kept emailing me about buying my STi...I originally liked the 2013 Ram but got the Ford because tasca really wanted my car and I didn't think other dealers would give me the same amount and never tried

My parents have had a couple Ford Explorers, of which I used to tow my older boat. Recently, I upgraded my boat and needed more towing power so I started itching to get a truck. Out of all the trucks out there, about the only reason I got my current F-150, is I think it just looks awesome! I love the look of the truck.

My parents explorers were always in the service bay with problems. Heck, even my new truck with 1k miles is going in for the second time for them to work on the brakes that make grinding noises when I am about to stop. (Last five feet or so.) Last time they put on new brake calipers, resurfaced all my rotors, etc. Didn't fix the noise, so tuesday it's going back. When I took it in the first time, the service advisor told me it is normal for the brakes to make noise for up to 5k miles as the brakes need to set. As soon as he drove the truck, he admitted it wasn't normal.

But I still love the profile of this truck, hence why I bought one.

Like you say, i grew up Chevy. My dad still owns 2 of them. But i got into the auto body trade. And have had the opportunity to work on all makes and models. I got laid off from a private body shop, and landed a head painter job at a dealership...a dealer with Chevy/Ford on the same lot. Working on both day in/out, swayed me to Ford. I'm still not completely brand loyal though.

We still got a 1994 chevy dually. 454 with a 5 speed. One stout old truck and omg it sounds so sexy. But its only got 94k it better be good still lol. Like i said its not much against the trucks, just fanboys

The first big thing that caught my eye was the rear legroom on the Crew. I have a family, and prize lots of room inside. There is no comparison to any other 1.5 ton truck - no comparison. Then after more investigation it's a very highly reviewed truck to boot. Then the engine lineup is the best there is right now.

To be honest, I didn't even drive the Chevy. I looked around the lot, and was somewhat perplexed that the sliding rear window apparently isn't a big thing for Chevy. Not a huge deal but I wanted one. Then with the rear legroom against the Ford - no comparison.

I actually wanted to drive the RAM, was at the dealer being very obvious I was interested. But no one came out to talk with me. I guess the economy is booming so they can pick and choose who they'll talk to? To be fair, it was a Saturday and very busy. But I was there for like 45 minutes. Then I read more about the thirsty Hemi and the reliability issues. I wanted a truck pretty soon and wasn't interested in waiting until the 8-speed came out. I had already researched the Ford for a year. Who knows? If the 8-speed was out when I was buying, I might be in a RAM right now. But I doubt it.

Last three trucks were F-150's. Just happened to find good deals on them. All of them treated me very good.

This time, it was past experience and the EcoBoost engine that sold me on Ford. Now that this has been said, I wish I had never bought it. The current EcoBoost problems and Ford's way of dealing with them has destroyed the trust that my last three trucks have built in the Ford product.

That being said, my new work truck is a 2013 Ford F-150. How that truck holds up will decide whether or not I will ever own a Ford again.

Whats weird is that my dad was a chevy man for literally like 30 years, and out of all the ford engines that could have converted him, it was a 4.2 v6 in a 1997 f150 lol. 280 or 290 k something like that on the first engine, and the only reason it went was cuz an oil seal blew while in construction traffic, and couldnt get off the road in time, then the second engine went to 197k before the original transmission finally went. He swears up and down it was the best truck ever made lol.
