What kind of real world mileage could I expect....
#11
Thanks guys, and hey gnardo....
I looked at the Sportrack, since you mentioned it. Not a bad looking rig.... but the bed is too short for my poles, and the back seat would never, ever be used for anything.... Which is why I'm going with a reg, cab, standard bed F150. With a fiberglass bedcover, I'll have more than enough storage space.

Do you like the ford sport trac? They are not a big truck but they have a 5200lb towing capacity. You can get an 08 with a 292hp 4.6L and a 5 or 6speed automatic tranny. I looked at one a little while ago and I was impressed with it. If you are pulling a light boat, and you did everything to one of these that you plan on doing with a f-150, you could probably get some good mpg.
My F150, when stock, got over 21 highway mph's if I kept the RPM's around 2k. That was on the longest trips where it was absolutely 100% highway mileage. Mine is the 5.4L V8 so I'd assume a 4.6L could get you even better than that.
