What to do to someone vandalizing your truck?

Who did you **** off?lol
I would leave one of those lights that they keep on flags on your truck. That way they can't go near your vehicle without being in direct light. Set up an alarm too. Make sure your curtains are open and play your TV. Gives the idea your waiting.
I'd also leave a warning sign out.

It's a car, you have insurance. I hate to say that, but honestly, you shouldn't display a weapon unless your ready to use it. That said, have you ever taken someone's life before? It is a lot to live with for the rest of your life.....food for thought.

I have no intent to use a weapon, I just don't know what other alternative there is to hold the person until the cops arrive. I don't wanna tackle them or fight because I risk getting myself hurt. I'm going to call the police,iI just want a way to stop and hold the person until they arrive.

Anything you do to physically detain them could be used against you.
Showing a gun and not being prepared to use it is down right foolish. If they are real criminals you could easily end up dead. If they are just vandalists it could still get you in trouble.
Your best options are lights, sirens and surveillance cameras.

Kentucky is a commonwealth so I'm not sure if this would apply to Michigan, but in KY you are allowed to defend your property with non deadly force. So, if you need to fight somebody, you can provided you use only the amount of force necessary to affect the arrrest. If you win the fight, hold them until the police arrive and explain what happened. However, if you pull a gun on somebody here in order to defend your truck, you are gonna be in some trouble. We have the castle law here, but obviously that does not apply to your car. Now, if you confront the bad guy and he has a knife or gun, all bets are off. Do what you need to do.

I see your point OP, but lets enter reality. Its a truck, yes I get it, one you have worked hard for and made to your liking. If you have a girlfriend, wife, kids, parents, anyone that loves you, I am sure they wouldnt like you risking your life trying to "taunt" a vandal with a gun, just to try and stop someone from hurting your vehicle. Which is more important, your life, or a truck? As stated before, get a video, post signs on your truck you are watching them, etc. Dont risk your safety on a vehicle.

I also live outside of detroit and I'm a cpl holder, my opinion is if you draw a weapon you damn we'll be ready to use it, or beat the f$&k out of them and find out the vandal is a minor. Both options could have a life changing outcome for you. A lot of lighting and make your neighbors know what's going on, best of luck
