Dropped my truck off at the dealership again. Time for another rant!
This time the check engine light came on at 6500 miles and had some codes, so hopefully Ford will let them fix it. Codes show that engine is misfiring.
Probably because this 5.0L has been burning a qt of oil a week since about 2k miles. You can see and smell it from the tailpipe. Hopefully they can get it to stop stalling under light acceleration after braking.
The 10 spd transmission has been terrible since new. Sometimes bangs and clunks on start-up, like it is locked up and releases violently, shaking the whole truck. At idle, it always sounds like I'm churning a bucket full of bolts and sand.
It is always confused on shifts. They said they actually found the problem with the trans...just needed to be reprogrammed. We'll see how that turned out. Not counting on that fixing it.
Transfer case locks into 4wd and doesn't release until shut off. Put it in 4wd because of the ice and snow in my work parking lot, then switched to 2wd while coming up to our stop sign before the road.
Drove 20 miles with switch in 2wd, but still stuck in 4wd. Didn't know until I turned slowly into a supermarket parking lot near home and the driveline bound up. It popped a few times really loudly with the steering cranked and eventually let loose.
Tried it again, while driving around the lot and did same thing. Tried backing up, but didn't matter. Shutting it off and parking it a while seems to work.
Rear suspension has had a loud clunk when I turn since it was a couple of weeks old. Always bangs over railroad tracks and large bumps. Hopefully they find the problem this visit. Probably the same leaf spring problem others have had.
HVAC is blowing cold air instead of heat when turned to the floor setting. The other settings work fine.
Ford has been difficult to work with to cover any warranty items on a completely stock vehicle with low miles. They were terrible with my last truck too. Had to wait until things actually broke down before they got fixed.
What should've been a $100 rear diff bearing repair turned into a $3800 axle assembly gut job. A $200 VCT replacement turned into an $8000 engine replacement and sat for a month before Ford agreed to fix the dead engine.
They didn't care that it was making a lot of noise each time I brought it in..."that's normal and won't hurt anything". LOL
My new truck is a lease this time. It will probably be my last Ford, since this truck is turning out almost as bad as the last one and Ford warranty policies are getting worse.

I did nothing to my 17 RCSB, 5.0 but we spent the afternoon cleaning the paint on my neighbors 18, FX4 screw. Quick wash, Clay 2.0 with thinned detail spray, good rub with 4 Star non-abrasive paint cleaner and then a coat of Eagle One NanoWax. This is a combo that I know lasts a ful year minimum here in East Tennessee. I don’t have any pictures on this device but will post a couple tomorrow. Once more a mirror finish achieved with this combination of chemicals.

So looks like this truck is going to be a repeat of the last. Pretty much need to be towed in to get anything fixed. Went to several dealerships and all had the same results with the Ford warranty approvals.
This dealership reflashed the engine and trans programs and said the truck is ready to go. No other actions were required.
They can't duplicate anything, and what they can see or hear is "normal". Guess 2500 miles between oil changes is normal now? Burning a quart every 500 miles is Ok?
Visible smoke even in the summer and rattling like a diesel are common characteristics for the 5.0L. LOL
I guarantee this will be going back with the same symptoms within a week.
