Aren't you in Louisiana? Where do you run? Fresh water, salt, swamps, etc.?

I have no salt water experience. Is it troublesome for outboards?

Says my 20 odd year old engine that's probably only ever seen salt water, and does just fine.

Perhaps so. If you're ocd and want to keep everything sparkly clean inside out, I won't argue. However it's hardly "troublesome".
