Went to start the truck this morning and it was cold, there has been a rattle coming from the drivers side front, I thought it was the exhaust manifold rattling against the block. Come to find out it's the driers side catalytic converter. My question is, how do you go by gutting one? And if so will I need to do the gotts O2 mod?

I just had mine replaced under warranty, they are covered 8 years or 80k miles, but I think you have a 99, so I think you're out of luck

Gutting it, well you remove it, and take a prybar and a hammer and break up the material inside until it all breaks apart and comes out. It's not the easiest thing in the world, but it can be done with some effort and patience. Also illegal, and won't pass an emissions inspection if you have to go through one. I've had 3 Mustangs with either offroad x-pipes or gutted cats and felt absolutely no power difference. So don't expect much

I had my cat converter replaced under warranty today, finally! Truck is running good and no more rattling noise. Also had the oil changed and the tires rotated.

Been back in the mid '80's when I last gutted any. The inside was a ceramic honeycomb about the hardness of a heavy glass. Had to pound a bar through the ceramic material a break it all into small enough pieces so it would come out the inlet or outlet. Have to remove it all or it will rattle. After it is gutted the engine will backfire when you let off the gas.
There is no noticeable performance or MPG enhancement. I was driving 150 miles per day and thought possibly better mileage. Not....

Yeah it's a 99 lol no warranty there haha. I'm really not expecting much of any gains just hoping for no losses, and I live in Iowa where we have no emissions tests all that is required is a muffler which you can get away without one. And will it throw any codes at all?

Forgot the bikes were on there and almost drove up under the parking garage when we went for a quick dinner in Downtown Greeenville. That would have been expensive.....
It's funny, but the term is actually 'clipless' for the shoes that actually CLIP into the pedals. The clip pedals term was taken when the crappy flat pedals with the plastic toe clip became the standard years back. Nonetheless, sweet bikes, and Giro make some great shoes, I have one of their helmets and love it.

HAHA see I thought the term was clipless, but when I thought about it, I was like, wait that doesn't make any sense...... It must be CLIPPED!

I love the bikes, the silver is the GF's and is brand new. I wrecked her old one by taking it for a 6 day beach camping trip. Rusted out in like 3 days. Front spokes snapped and it got all warped.... So I bought her a new one! My wallet hurts, but she's happy.

Those spokes will get ya! The second you see those brown spots start to show up, it's game over and they break like uncooked angel hair pasta. I worked at a bike shop at the beach, and had to get a tetnis shot from a rusted wal - mart spoke poking into my arm... Not a great day haha. I use a product called T-9, developed by boeing, just using a cue tip every every three months and hitting all the nuts and bolts, and even the spoke nipples. 5 years later and no rust still

Ya it didn't help that her bike was like 8yrs old and had gone through 3 international moves, with no maintenance, EVER. She never rode it. Then we started dating and 3 yrs later she is getting hooked on it too. So I say success!
