Was that the backside of the TB that is so dirty or was it the side facing outward? I looked at mine the other day and it was very clean but I'm guessing if I took it off completely the backside would tell a different story.

Backside, yeah the front side looked almost spotless. And the difference in drivability is night and day! Much smoother idle and way better throttle response. Doesn't sound like its confused anymore.

Also just noticed a whistle at certain RPM's, not sure if something is just whistling in my air box or if I didn't tighten something down enough or what. Any suggestions before I start poking around anybody?

Well that's really good to know...thanks! Guess, I will have to do that now. I installed a catch can a few thousand miles ago (6.2 engine) so I suppose it'd be good to start with a clean throttle body.

I'd say a piece of the air box isn't tightened and some air is getting through. Possibly the clamp on the throttle body? It might not be seated on the bottom portion?

When I put an aftermarket CAI on my old Dodge, it whistled due to the shorter distance from the filter to the TB. In other words TB's whistle. So look around the TB for a leak.

Old guy told me to spray carb cleaner around the base of the TB to check for leaks. If the motor choked out, you had a leak. Replace the gasket.

Came home and got busy fishing

(I should probably note the beer can was not ours - don't touch that stuff, and certainly not while driving)
