Thanks for sharing
That part of the axle is nothing to scoff at. About 13 years ago while coming home from a camp trip with my family, an accident happened on a bridge about 10 vehicles ahead of us. A family in an F350 king cab towing a Prairie Schooner fifth wheel was crossing the bridge at 50-60mph when the axle shaft on the passenger side came apart, slid out of the axle and hit the side of the bridge sending the whole rig into the oncoming lane. The flatbed wrecker that hit the ford head-on obliterated the engine compartment, ripped the cab off the frame and carried it over the bed and through the front corner of the trailer which broke free and continued down the road for about 1000ft. Ever since then, axles have worried the hell out of me. If your axle has any play in it, I would not waste a second getting it fixed. The stress from towing a trailer on an already weakened axle could be deadly. I can still see the peoples stuff floating in the water below. Gives me the shivers.

I saw the three kids from the back seat sitting on the side of the bridge under blankets seemingly fine. Im not sure about the parents. One thing i heard was that the mother died. There was a medflite helicopter involved.

The thing is, that when the flatbed carried took the cab from the frame, it carried it over the bed and through the front of the trailer. When it hit ground on the other side, it ran the cab over. Everybody was shocked that anybody lived.

Happened on the Mayfield Lake Bridge, HW 12, in Mossyrock Washington. The road was 70% RVs that day (i think it was a three day weekend) The road leading down to the bridge is kind of a ravine with ditches on either side. Not wide enough for RVs to turn around. They closed the bridge and it took hours to get all the RVs to back up the couple of miles to get turned around. The next best route home was through Morton to Elbe and down HW7. It was a very long day.

I washed it and then took the FlexFuel badge off the tailgate.

Got flared.

Tires kept slinging road grime all over both sides so I had to do something and since putting my old wheels back on ain't happening this was the logical alternative.

Notice the little bit of tread sticking out passed the fender, don't look like much but it sure slung a lot of crud down both sides.

Before:

After:

Still debating whether to PTM or leave alone, for now they will remain unpainted.
