The man is right!
Started to sand on my 82 F-150 4x4. Started on the driver bed panel to get a feel for it using 320 grit wet sand paper. I sanded off 32 years of oxidation and grundge. Gonna primer it for the winter then resand and clean and paint in my garage next summer. It took me 2 hours on the one rear panel with the 320 grit and i have 400 and 600 grit to go before i primer it.
I like to use heat lamps to heat the metal, the primer or paint seems to spread better especially if i take my time and enjoy the labor of love.

At the dealer right now. Getting the initial oil change done, (a whopping 930 miles), and swapping to Mobil-1 5W-30. Also having them look at the AC since I can't get vent-temps below 58* in this heat, boo. (I won't comment on waiting in the service drive standing outside my truck for over 15 mins waiting for an SA, even after asking two other SAs for help).
Unfortunately I have to sit here & wait all day now. Despite having first day rental and the 75/day enhanced ESP. (Hertz tried to put me in a stripped Nissan Frontier). When they went to call the Lincoln dealer for something better, he said there were no other options. Oh yea, then they rented that Nissan while I was waiting.
After bitching I was basically told tough, they're not allowed to bring any vehicles from another location. Oh, but I was free to arrange my own rental at one of those other locations if I wanted too.
WTF. Way to go Ford & Hertz partnership. Sigh.
(I do not foresee a very good survey already, haha).
Edit - Just a quick update on this. My salesman happened to walk by the service lobby and saw me and asked why I was there. He wasn't pleased that no one tried harder to get me into a vehicle. He snagged me a new/demo/parts running '14 xlt with only 1k miles on it to use until they're done with my truck. Even apologized that it wasn't a higher trim, and said I should have just gone straight to him, haha.

Applied two coats of Turtle Wax Jet Black tire shine this morning. In the past I used the Armour All brand and it turned the rubber brown. Hoping this Acrylic based product does a better job.
