Could someone explain the thinking behind making your taillights, turn signals and, particularly, your brake lights harder to see?

I use to have the plastic covers on my 90 gt for that very reason.

Agreed. Any bit of glare in the eyes of the person behind you and they won't see your brake lights when they're that dim. A set of HD tails is much cheaper and easier than an accident...

I tell everyone I know if they are in a rear ender accident.. get photos of the tail lights...
