Maybe??? But I would never consider owning a 4x2. Most of the time I could get around but sometimes the roads aren't plowed when I leave for work at 4 am. Some mornings I have to plow through a 2'-3' snowbank at the end of my driveway where they plowed me in.

It's like Insurance and many other things. Might not have an everyday use, but it's there when you need it. I went most of the winter in upstate NY (30mi from Canada)not using it, but once we would get a foot or so of snow or after a big storm the 4x4 with winter tires really made a difference. My wife has a FWD car, so one of our vehicles being a 4x4 is a nice little piece of mind. We also like to go snowboarding, so its nice when driving up to resorts after a big storm for some fresh slopes (I rode with a buddy in a 4x2 up to a resort, and that was scary. I understand that nothing is good when it comes to ice, but i said never again.) I'll always have at least one vehicle with 4x4

Probably, but it's nice to have when you end up needing it.
You can get a limited slip rear, a good set of studded snow tires and put some weight in your bed but your 2 wheel drive truck will never be as good as even a honda civic in the snow. It might be okay if you don't have hills and your driveway gets plowed before you are up in the morning but otherwise, it's nice to have 4x4 when you need it.
