I found this truck running around base and i have never seen anything like this. Does anyone know anything about this, like is it custom or a Ford thing?

Never seen that, sure is ugly though. People that park like this in a crowded lot make me insane.

I think theres a company that builds truck beds like that because Ive seen several Chevy Colorado's with them around here, usually fleet trucks like Time Warner cable.

Looks like it would have been easier to just start with a crew cab.
Would have been cheaper and a lot less fugly.

It's a custom bed on a base XL. Probably cheaper then starting with a crew cab.

Is that a privately owned vehicle or is a vehicle that belongs to the base installation? I've seen some strange cab and bed configurations on base-owned vehicles.

As mentioned above, GMC Canyon's and Chevy Colorado's are available like this as a factory order through an up fitter. It's referred to as a "mid box". One of the local alarm companies around here uses them. They have drawers mounted on the inside for parts, etc. Sort of handy when you don't want a full service body. Basically it's an extended cab or crew cab truck with a regular cab. The mid box is put in between by the up fitter company.

Looks like Ford refers to it as a "Tough Box".
