Default Weird Issue

My truck is a 2004 f150 Lariat 5.4 .174,000 kms Today when I slowed down to turn on to a street it just died. It fired up fine and actually seemed to run smoother and quiter. On the display is said low oil pressure and then went away. I had an oil change a few weeks a go and everything looked good. I have the phaser knocking sound and my mechanic has mention that i should get those done. When I asked about the truck just dying he said it could be related to the timing etc. Now the question is. Could it be related to the timing and phaser knock which it has been doing for a while or could it have been just a one off weird thing? Should I get the phasers and sensors replaced to increase the longevity of the vehicle? Not sure if I should get it done or not. The truck runs ok it is just noisy.
