I am not certain about Ford, but Honda vehicles sold in Canada fall through the cracks with recall notices. You should check your VIN on www.safecar.gov. If the VIN is not recognized, you will most likely have issues with recalls.

The 2017 F150 I bought recently was originally sold in Canada (has the XTR package). The truck only had 5,000 miles and is in excellent shape. I wasn't concerned about the harsh weather in Canada because I live in Wisconsin which basically has all the same issues with salt and harsh winters. So far I am super happy with the truck and there are no issues to speak of. The used car dealer I bought it from (non-ford) said it still had the factory warranty of 3yr/36,000 and 5yr/60,000. I didn't really think too much of it at the time because they are a pretty reputable dealer in the area so I just took them for their word. In the following days I started to wonder if it being previously owned in Canada would be an issue.
Has anyone here had experience dealing with warranty issues with Ford on a truck previously owned in Canada? I have searched Google and can't find much regarding positive or negative experiences with it. I am hoping I never have to deal with a warranty issue but I would like to know that I am covered if there are any issues with the truck in the future.
Thanks!

i just called Ford Corporate on 1/7/2021 and they said Canadian warranties are not valid in the US. Recalls are valid but not warranties. My local Ford dealer confirmed the same thing. They can look up Ford recalls on Canadian trucks but not warranty information. Or... Drive it to Canadian for warranty work and they can look it up... haha

Were(Canada) shipping thousands of trucks to the USA every month. 6 months in, were getting all our money back and they go state side, because of the dollar difference.. 3 people make money and we get a great trade in, been tough to find a good used low mile truck up in Ontario for a couple years now! Has to be 6 months old for export
Strange but true!

So far the I know of it's just Mopar that won't allow the warranty. Before this Ford I had a 2015 Ram from Canada. Didn't come with any warranty. All I have read, it was just Mopar. You should be good to go.

I have a 2018 F150 40k miles. It was in for some warranty work (I think the wheel end unit is going bad). The dealer called and they say it has no warranty coverage and they think it is a transmission issue but they were pretty vague about it, something about needing to cycle solenoid and stuck valve. I asked for more details and they said it was hard to explain. I told them I would call ford and try to figure out what was going on with warranty.
I just spent a couple hours talking to consumer affairs, they sent me to Canadian consumer affairs, who sent me back to US consumer affairs who tried to contact the dealer, but they were closed by this time. I sure thought I had a warranty when I bought the truck and it is a little stressful to be told I do not. Hopefully it can be dealt with. I understand things break, but to be burned on a vehicle with this few miles (almost all of which are highway miles) would be pretty frustrating.
edit: After an inordinate amount of time and calling on multiple days they told me that the vehicle is 3 months out of date on the warranty. Weird that they could not figure that out before. They claimed before it is some international issue and now suddenly claim it is 3 months past the 5 year mark and they cannot do anything. In any case it doesn't address the international aspect at all of this thread, but the person on the phone the last time told me the Canada part was not an issue at all.
