Default Want softer ride

F150: 2017 FX4 XLT
Current stock rims: 20" rims with 275/60 R20 = 33" x 10.8 BFG. Front leveled. It's pretty stiff. I really don't offroad much at all. The FX is overkill, I bought it used in 2019 as i wanted the extra cab with sunroof and they're hard to find. I guess everyone wants a 4 door so it's low supply.
I'm close to getting new tires so I'll likely go to:
NITTOTERRA GRAPPLER G3P 275 /70 R18 116T SL BSW
275/70R18 = 33.2x10.8R18

I'm sure that will help some with smaller wheel an softer sidewall on the tires.
I'm thinking of doing new shocks. Anyone have suggestions? I'm told the Bilstein B6 4600, but I'm open to anything. I mostly drive streets. A lot of pot holes where I live and want a smoother ride. I recently rented a Ram 2500 and man was that a smooth ride.
Would love to hear from those with experience.

Going to an 18" while and softer sidewall will be a huge improvement. I suggest doing that first then decide on the shocks.

Not sure it’s so much in the tires. My 2025 has stock 275/60R20s and it’s a noticeably softer nicer ride than my previous 2017 with stock 265/70R17s.

Both trucks stock height 4x4s with no suspension mods.

@Brad2017 Welcome to the forum. What tire pressure are you running?

I actually found the front leveling kit made it ride better and handle better. I was surprised how much better.

36PSI. My neighbor has the same truck with stock tires and no level and bikes with me how he spills his coffee with his stiff ride.

so you think it’s the wheel size. That makes sense. I fill my bed often but not with heavy loads. I think an LT tire with strong sidewall like my BFGs is not necessary. I think I’ll start there and then go shocks if needed.

I used a puck. Was that the wrong way to go?
