There are opportunities to pick up a truck for thousands of dollars lower than new. This particular one said rebuilt (flooded) but if it checked out then why not?
Your logic is flawed, I said if a used truck is only a few thousand less than new, why buy something the base warranty is almost over? So lets say that 50k new truck with 0 miles on it is sitting next to 46k used truck similarly equipped but has 35k miles on it. You going to buy the used one? I wouldn't and I also wouldn't touch a flood rebuild if my life depended on it. I've seen too many people get burned and the reason is simple, (also why flood auto's are totaled) insurance companies know it would cost almost what the vehicle is worth to rebuild to a status that is completely repaired, I've seen how water can creep up hill inside wiring harnesses.

You don't want that headache.

I get what you are saying but I'm willing to buy a 10 yr old vehicle that is in excellent condition and do the majority of my own maintenance.
I just bought a 2011 Mazda Miata with 110,000 miles about 8 months ago. I save 70% of new cost.
I bought a 2005 F150 extended bed for $3000 2 yrs ago and it serves my purpose. I wouldn't have any problem driving it across country.

Great! You create a market for when I've used my vehicle up, gives me better resale value. I prefer the newest technological advancements in security, safety, and creature comforts provided by new vehicles. I prefer having a warranty and I also prefer to perform ALL my own maintenance.

After a lifetime of buying used up beaters and finally being able to afford new, I'll never buy used again.

Everyone that buys used trucks think they're in great condition, previous owner babied it, etc......

....until the honey moon phase is over and a REAL professional takes a full look at it. Then gives them the list of things needing to be fixed.

I've got 6 cars, all over 100K miles. I bought a 2005 Lexus LS430 2 yrs ago with 110,000 on the odometer. You have to be smart in buying and do due diligence. I normally only buy cars that are one owners and great condition.
I like to be the guy that lets someone else eat the depreciation, because lets face it, the majority of vehicles will depreciate; some more than others. I also don't like car payments. A $ 50k+ car payment is something I just can't fathom.

There aren't that many "real professionals" that I know. Do your due diligence up front and you minimize your risks. All used cars will need maintenance.
With no car payment I can afford to buy OEM parts when needed.
And there are plenty of stories of recalls and maintenance issues of new vehicles. I prefer to let someone else go through that headache.

I just bought a 2011 Mazda Miata with 111,000 and one owner. Looked brand new and runs great.

If everyone could afford new vehicles there would be NO used car market, people would use them till they break and then trade up to new ones, the used one would be recycled to build new ones. Human nature to want the best, newest, latest greatest. That includes you and you know it. So please stop trying to justify your reason to me, I get it, I got it all of my life because I thought the same way. My wallet dictated my thoughts and still does. The same as it does for everyone else.

ALL vehicles depreciate unless they become a classic. The point I'm trying to convey is Ford trucks do not suffer as great a loss as most others do. That is a fact.

I had a series of 3/4 ton Suburbans, for towing and serious back country (off "road") travel. But the latest version has gone to airport limo/soccer mom. I was impressed with F150s owned by my brother and SIL, so I figured it was time to try one.
