Voltage Drop
Background:
Truck sat for 7 days in garage. Went to start, dead. Jumped it and it started. Alternator checked, putting out 14.1-14.5V, ok. Checked battery, it was weak, replaced.
One month later, parked 5 days, dead again. Checked battery, ok. Checked alternator, ok. Checked for power drains. Found two: 1) Rear undercarriage wiring harness, 2) Shifter micro switch, both replaced
Two weeks later, parked 4 days, dead again. Checked battery, ok. Checked alternator - 12.5-12.9V. Replaced alternator (New is $800.00, went with reconditioned for $360.00, Wow!).
Two weeks later, closely monitored voltage, 14.1-14.5V. While driving, dropped to 12.5-12.9V. Checked alternator, bad, replaced.
Three weeks later, closely monitored voltage, 14.1-14.5V. While driving, dropped to 12.5-12.9V. Checked alternator, bad, warrantied and replaced.
Two weeks later, closely monitored voltage, 14.1-14.5V. While driving, dropped to 12.5-12.9V. Checked alternator, bad got money back. Opted for used alternator and replaced.
Two days later, closely monitored voltage, 14.1-14.5V. While driving, dropped to 12.5-12.9V. Checked alternator, bad, ugh...
