Default Using cupped tires?

Good morning, self-identified genders!

I have a new truck (2018 STX 4x4 crew). Bought it just before Xmas so it's still pretty pristine. I was shopping for mud tires when a friend told me I could have the tires off his truck since he was replacing them. 35x12.5r20 Mickey T MTZs. I thought "Sure, I'll try those out. If I like them I'll get more down the road. If I don't like them, I've lost nothing" Now, the tires have great tread depth but I noticed there is some bad cupping. Not severe but bad to me. So my question for you all is this; CAN I put them on my truck and drive the cupping out? Hell, If I can put them on the rear and burn the cupping out on wet asphalt then rotate the front tires to the rear and do it all over again, I'd probably try that. At least for the fun of it!

I'm well aware of the default answers of "why don't you just by new tires"....... Because these were free and are worth the effort to try to salvage is the short answer. BUT.... That doesn't answer my question. Either theoretically or from your own experience, CAN the cupping be driven out and how? I may add some pics this afternoon if it makes a difference.

Thanks in advance!

IMHO I wouldn't waste my time with them.

I would just roll with the cupping. I've been told once the tire wears a certain way, it's not going to wear back out after that. Depending on the level of cupping, I wouldn't worry about it. MT's often get weird wear patterns in them if they get out of balance or don't get rotated as often as they should.

If you want to try them do it. The cupping is probably there for the rest of the tires life. Won't hurt anything, just make a lot more noise. If you don't like them you'll be out the cost of mounting and then re-mounting the original tires.

We have a shop that can true tires. Removes the cupping entirely. That's if there's enough tread left.
This was done on my new tires. They got out of balance and I lazied around didn't have it corrected until there was some pretty bad cupping. Had them trued and balanced now they ride like a dream

Hello Mr. Smitty!! (Haha! Love the username) 99% of the time, once a tire develops cupping, that’s its lifelong wear pattern. Unless you have some surgery done to the tires to shave them down, that’s how they’ll be forever. Tires can cup because of a wonky alignment, out of balance conditions, or just inherent wear patterns within that brand or that specific tire, whether you perfectly maintain the tires/ alignment or not.

I vote that that you try the burnout method, video it, and post it here. That’s my vote. Maybe next time I come to Yorktown, we can do it together!
