Default Undercarriage surface rust treatment ?

My 13 Lariat has been driven 5 yrs in NY so need I say more..there is surface rust on the rear axle and driveshafts,,,and I see some spots here and there on the frame welds, cab mounts etc front lower control arms...so I figured id do a good under carriage wash,,,but then what...should I use that spray on rust convertor or a brush on product ? And after spray the areas with undercoating ??
Like to keep it as clean as possible

Same issue on my '13 Lariat.

Last year I wire brushed everything then applied a couple coats of black spray-on Tremclad rust paint and it looked great but now that we've gone through another winter (Ontario) it looks just as bad again.

I'm thinking now it may be an idea to clean it all up and re-paint then get it undercoated.

Do you fellas have Crown Rustproofing in the States ?

I've used it on other vehicles from new and it works very well and has a good rep up here.

Not sure why people rave over fluid film. It washes off the first time to wash your truck. Amsoil HDMP sprays on like FF but it actually sticks. You can blast it with the high pressure hose all winter and it’ll still be there in the spring.

Ive put a fresh coat of semi gloss rustolium on my undercarriage yearly since new. My truck is a 2008 and has been through 10 Vermont winters.

Correct. I apologize as I know that’s not so helpful. If I were you, Id remove any rust scale, hit the rusted parts with POR15, then use a few rattle cans of rustolium and cover the whole frame, suspension, etc.

After that, you can repaint yearly as I have, or get it rust treated with an oil undercoating every fall.
