Ah…so maybe it only takes the last few miles into account when it calculates the "miles to E", and here I thought you had to drive hundreds of miles to get it to say that. OK, got it

That range is calculated based on how you are driving and how much fuel you have.

Default Update on 2011 FX4 SCAB Ecoboost w/ 85k miles

3 and a half hour trip from Chattanooga, TN to Bowling Green, KY. Speeds were set on cruise control at posted speed limits. About 350 lbs in the bed including the A.R.E. shell and 200 lbs of tools in the cab. almost the same mileage my 2012 camaro gets in the city! lol

Ok, running on 305/70/17's or 34x12.5 tires, I just made a trip from Wilmington, NC to Ormond Beach, FL averaging a speed of 75 MPH. I got 15.7 mpg average over 486.6 miles. Not to shabby.

Just got back from my trip to Virginia and back. We drove a little over 3700 miles and the overall average was 16.1 Not too bad for a brand new truck and driving 75-85 mph down the freeway.

Man I wish I could get close to that... stock truck with 8700 miles on it. Do not tow, usually in the cab by myself, 50/50 highway/city and my lifetime average is 13.7. highway I am lucky to get into the 16's, around town usually in the 12's. What engine do you have? Ok Ecoboost, got it. 13.7 lifetime average? Cool, why do you care about that so much? Are you saying in 8700 miles you never got on it? If you drive it like grandma all the time, there is the reason for you plugs. You bought a high performance engine and you are abusing it by never really driving it. And why would you replace only 4 plugs? Plugs should always be replaced as a set, especially in turbo vehicles. Keep them motorcraft and they should be gapped to .030 if you have a lifetime fuel economy of 13.7, that ain't bad. The economy in the first 1000 miles is terrible. It's a new truck for crying out loud. Now when you drive, how high do you put your revs when accelerating? Should not go above 3000 when you do. Also watch the tach, make sure your torque converter locks out in the necessary gear. This truck will get its best gas mileage locked out in top gear at 40 mph. Check your tire pressure. Keep hwy speeds below 70. Briskly accelerating to speed and get locked out in top gear quickly, but don't rev above 3000. Really doubt it is the truck.

Sorry, I did not realize this post was just for folks to tout their great mileage and that the folks with Crappy mileage were supposed to keep quiet it secret...

Since you took the trouble to reply I will respond. Probably out of order but I will try to hit the high spots.

I miss-typed, Ford replaced three plugs, they also replaced injectors 4,5,6, the CAC some wiring on the same side and then finally that turbo because they determined it had a loose impeller. They had my brand new, only having 1050 miles for three weeks. I was given a loaner and stuff happens. They kept in contact and got it fixed but to be clear my truck died on the side of the road with 1050 miles.

If you had really read the post instead of giving me the party line stock answers you would see that I said i did not drive like a grandma or racer but somewhere in between. I did step on it when I got it to see what I could do and got better mpg on the first two tanks before it broke than I am getting now. I have also in trying to improve tried different driving styles and have seen little to know difference. I know about the helpful hints you provided and employee them when I can, I am not just whining I am trying to do what I can to see if anything makes a difference. I have also hand calculated and my computer is pretty close.

I check the tires regularly and know my two gauges are accurate. I play with the pressure on my bronco because even a pound or two really affects handling.

You asked why do I care about the mpg. I will give you a couple of reasons, I hear folks all around me getting 5 mpg better than my truck, I got better mpg on my 2010 Ford Expedition, I think it is bs hearing from the dealer that it may take 15,000 miles for it to get better, but maybe the biggest one is that I like to see the range to empty and Ford in their wisdom has decided to throw in large numbers my Crappy mileage right on the same screen. I can't get away from it. I am STILL only getting about 13.7 mpg out of a tank. It has not gotten any better and I am not on winter blend fuel like I was when I bought it.

I am fortunate, I can afford to put gas in it but that should not mean that I should accept a Crappy under performing engine. Love the truck, HATE the mpg.

Is there no way to go above your dealer and see about a warrantied crate engine install. You paid more money for the ecoboost for the promise of better mileage and that was not made good.
