If you tune it plan on losing your factory and any extended warranty you may have.. Most tuners raise shift points, remove torque management ,raise rpm and speed limiters, and add timing among other things....these all place additional stress on your drivetrain. Just don’t do it If you want your warranty and there will be no issues...

I heard they could track down tunes that you put & removed. I don't believe dealerships have that kind of expertise, but they can send it (engine or computer probably?) to a place where they can determine if it was modified during its life.
People pretend they can just ''Switch it back to factory setting'' if an issue occur with their trucks under warranty and then bring it to the dealership to have it repaired. Auto makers are not that dumb.
I remember seeing a post here about a guy that was openly saying he had modded his engine & added a tune, and then posting - a few weeks or months later - that his engine had blown up and was bashing against Ford. If you play with fire and get burned, don't cry after.

Never seen a post like that in recent times at all.
Now there was a guy with a tune from SSI (Ecoboost engine) that had something similar, but he didn't bash Ford for it. Forced induction is a different animal though.
Finally, Stage3Motorsports offers a warranty you can purchase to cover incidents that the dealer will not as a result of the 5star tune. Many people bought it, but I don't think we've seen any provide feedback on filing a claim.
