Trying to decide on Ecoboost or 5.0

Sorry, should have said nothing on the lots where I went. I definitely didn't want the regular V6 and it seems there were lots of those. I had my choice of V6 or V8 in the base model or go up a level to get the ecoboost. Or maybe it was that I was mostly looking at the Scab and not the Screw? Can you get ecoboost in the Scab?
Of course, you can get the V8 on higher models. Didn't mean to imply otherwise.

So you call telling the truth is anger? The 5.0 in these newer F-150's have what in common with the old push rod 5.0 V-8 that have been around forever?Do you realize the N/A 3.5 has been around longer then the 5.0 coyote?

Dude give me a break. I was only making a joke. You eco boost guys get pissy about everything. Haha the original pushrod 5.0 engine went away in 96. 97-11 was the Triton engine family. 11 till current is this generation of engines. The 3.5 is based off of the old 3.7. It's basically the same engine with smaller displacement. Guess what the 5.0 is designed after... the 4.6 dohc.

The problem with the tundra is it hasn’t changed in over a decade. Today’s model looks the same as one from 10 years ago and it’s perfor hasn’t really improved much either and probably has the worst fuel economy of any full sized truck. That said I do like the looks of Toyota’s in their off road sport packages. Back to the F150 I have the 5.0 in a ‘14 screw that I towed my 30’ camper, about 5400 lbs dry. For the most part it handles it just fine but if one is going to do regular towing I think the 3.5 eb would be a better option. Now the problem with the F150 is at least in my area is that you can buy a new RAM for about $10k less and not really lose anything.
They did get 'serious' about full size trucks....they entered the market. It seems given their penchant for letting models get REALLY long in the tooth, they're not terribly inclined to compete heavily in the full size market. They probably make enough money on margin at their sales levels to justify being in the niche without investing too heavily in it any further.
Consider Nissan's XD a 'test' model to see how a 'heavier duty' truck would be received...but I liken that more to Toyota's T100 flop back in the 90s....a mid-size-full-size truck...underpowered with a V6 and nowhere near the full size capability, but bigger than a Tacoma. Made no sense whatsoever.
If they wanted to increase sales and compete more, they would probably have to offer the type of incentives the big 3 currently do. Problem is, they can't compete when it comes to mpg. Not even close. Neither the Tundra nor the Titan can get the V8 mpg that any of the big 3 are getting. Let's not even mention ecoboost or ecodiesel models.
Toyota more or less relies on the niche market of move-up Tacoma owners, or folks who just subjectively think Toyota products are superior to maintain tundra sales levels.
Nissan? I don't know what their deal is. The frontier is longer in the tooth than the Titan was when they redid it...the GTR is way overdue for a revamp, etc. They just seem....uninspired. The titan is the most impressive model they've come out with lately, and it's a nice truck to be sure. But does it compete?
