Don't know how much room you have in your toolbox but this is what I carry around.

Say what you will about harbor freight tools but for the occasional user like me they do just fine. The only thing that has broken in that set was the 3/8 to 1/4 socket adapter which I have replaced.
I also have a separate tool bag for my vise grips, wire strippers, WD40, loctite etc. Things that didn't come in the set.

Good point using the TG but my 12 has the step in it...haven't 'explored' the innerds yet. Has anyone used the high $ rear (under seat) box sold by Ford? Are there better boxes that could utilized this space (and still used the seat as a seat)? TL 2012 SCREW, 20's Pirelli's...then tonneau, wheel well inserts, mud flaps, dual liner, bug deflector & rigid driving lights added.

I have the husky gear box (tray goes under the rear seat) I put my tow strap, tie downs, bungee cords, hitch, camper plug adapter, flash lights/head lamps, and some small hand tools a few wrenches Allen keys screwdrivers can surprisingly fit a lot of stuff in the small space under the rear seat. i would like to get a box for the bed but with only having the 6ft bed dont wanna lose a lot of space so looking for some thing to hold more tools with out taking to much bed space

Here's what I keep in my small tool box (http://www.sears.com/craftsman-tool-...&blockType=G24):

1/4" driver with metric/standard/philips/flathead/torx/misc bits
6", 8", 10" crescent wrenches
9.5", 12" channel lock pliers
Needle nose pliers
Lineman's pliers
Dike/Side cut pliers
Crimping pliers
Wire strippers
Fluke multimeter
Measuring tape
Electrical tape
Teflon tape
Duct tape
Fuses
Fuse tester
First-aid supplies (bandaids, etc.)
Zipties

Outside of the toolbox I also keep:
Jumper cables
Hatchet
BFH (big f'in hammer)
Tiedowns/straps
Tow strap
Foam kneeling pad
Flashlights
Leatherman multi-tool

I also have a whole other assortment of work specific things like a fall harness, FR clothing, etc...but won't go into that in detail.

The above listed tools don't take up much space and have kept me prepared for almost any basic task that I've encountered. I think this is the type of list you were looking for with your original post. Good luck putting your selection together, and let me know if you have any questions about anything!

I was actually looking at the current version of your setup (http://www.harborfreight.com/130-pie...ase-69331.html). Although I like your version has the wrenches laid out so you can see them better. I was worried about the bad reviews on the site though. Might decide to go with that now, thanks.

I have this same set of tools out in the shop mixed among my craftsmans. Man they are cheap tools, now and then you'll break them but for just having them in the truck for a "just in case" moment you cant beat them. You lose a 9/16" Harbor freight wrench: $ 1-3
Lose a Craftsman 9/16" wrench: at least $9.99

I have a similar kit I got at Walmart a while back. It will get you out of a bind which is all I need it for but I wouldn't want it as my garage tool set.

Looks like this will only work on the 04-08's as the newer models have modified tailgates from what I've seen.
