I had caps on my last 3 trucks, went with a tonneau this time.
Fiberglass with a lifetime warranty, locks & keeps stuff in the back dry, but they are pricey..

That color scheme is nice. Is that an undercover tonneau?

Here is the cover I had installed on my 2018 F150 about a month ago. It is a hard folding cover that is near flat (1/4") to the bed rails. My truck has a power locking tailgate which is a great feature for security. The cover is easily removed by 2 people.

I have a rubber bed mat and and use load bars which keeps small stuff at he back. You don't have to crawl inside to get stuff out unless you're fully loaded. Unless you use your truck as a motorized wheel barrow there is no reason to not cover the bed. 99% of us use them to carry passengers and gear, why not keep it dry and secure. Unlike a SUV, a truck with a cap is much easier to hose out if something dirty is hauled in the bed.

If I need to haul anything heavy, large or bulky my 10' utility trailer works much better anyway. I burn 2-3 cords of wood every winter. Most 1/2 tons are limited to 1700 lbs or less payload, I can haul double that in my trailer without damaging the bed. Having the trailer 2' off the ground with a ramp is a lot ease to load/unload than a truck bed anyway.
I also have A 10 x 5 utility trailer made of steel. My plan is all stuff needing hauling goes in the trailer especially if it has metal corners or weighs over 60 pounds. My last truck was 2 days old and here I am hauling refrigerators and washer drying for our church rummage sale. The new tends to fade away quickly in this scheme but hey, Im saving the world, right? Not this time, the junk goes in the trailer, it is all ready scratched.

Over my lifetime I had 3 caps, 1 extang Tri solid fold, a heavy duty linex diamondback, and 2 soft trifold. Each one had its pros and cons and each one has a specific purpose in mind. My to favorites are the cab height cap and the soft Tri fold. Currently I'm using the soft trifold. It's a quick removal ( 25lbs approx) and it a quick fold to use 2/3 of the bed immediately plus I never get any water intrusions.
The hard trifold leaked in the center seams and the diamondback was awesome but way to hard and heavy to remove it to often.

The truck as ordered already had the red/ black color scheme, thought the black tonneau provided more balance.

TruXedo TruXport soft roll-up truck bed cover, here.
Easy, one person install - doesn't lose/waste my cargo space.
I don't own anything to justify the cost of a more secure cover - at least at this point in my life.
Love it so far.

I have a Backflip Revolver X4. So far I really like it. It's flush smooth rolls up in few seconds and most of the bed is usable when it's rolled up. The only place it leaks is in the rear near at the tailgate seal, and that's only a few drops at a car wash. Bought it from Truck Brigade, a vendor on this forum.

My 2012 had a Bakflip, and it was nice, but had to be warranted twice for the hinges as they kept falling out. My 14 I found a nice used topper and painted it to match the truck, still have it as I haven't moved it out to sell. I also had a bed rug in it so when I replaced the 14 with a 16 I got a new topper and bedrug for it and not only does it look nice and clean, it is also much easier on the knees when you need to crawl back there. On a short bed the topper gives much more room for storage and if I need to haul anything that doesn't fit in I have two trailers to choose from instead. I have yet had any need to remove the topper. It is also great for camping in that I can store tools, gas cans, generator, spare propane, etc back there and keep it dry and secure.

Now toppers for the 15+ are easier to find used than when I got mine, and if you have an 09-14 they are plentiful used.
