ditto on the truck hunt. i like what i hear and see about the F150. Looking for newer used model.
Looking for super crew cab 4x4 (snow and camping with older kids).
Any tips on which years, engines, options to lean towards or stay away from? Towing is not a necessity, small trailer.

When I bought my 2015 I wanted to put my Boss snow plow on it from my 2010 F150. So when I started checking into models the ecoboost would not accept a snowplow. So I found a 5.0L with the snowplow prep package. Finally the dealer called and gave me the deal I wanted. My 2010 had a 3.7L and my 2015 has 100 hp more. What a difference the extra power for plowing big storm. My driveway is 500' with a uphill grade. And I'm not sure which if any of the 2017 or 2018's accept a plow or not. You'd have to ask.

I'd say

1) Check on KBB or similar website
2) Shop locally for what you're looking for and establish a price range
3) Wait for a good deal

4 and most important : Since the car is almost 20 years old, do an in-depth inspection. The older the car is, the higher the chances of things breaking. If it has been neglected and poorly maintained all its life, it's usually starting to show up after 10+ years. Just my two cents.
