Truck Got Burglary
My new supercrew just got burglary
I am looking for ways that I can safely leave things concealed in my truck. Putting things under seat is one way but there isn't a lot of space. So I am thinking to get a metal toolbox installed in the box. However, I also see a news reporting a theft used a lock cutter to open toolbox in trucks. I am now not sure how secure it could be.
Any other suggestion?
Thanks!!

what happened?
Were your doors locked?
Some companies make safes that fit into the trucks console.

Console is too small I guess. Not sure if there is a toolbox that is hard to cut/break.
Yes it was locked. The theft broke the rear driver side window...
Since I have black tint glass, black seat and black bags on the seat, and I couldn't really see my bag from outside, I thought no theft can see it either. It's proven wrong, and later I heard from friends that thefts used flashlight to peek into cars............ So some SUVs can also get burglary even if a cover is used in the trunk but left little gaps on the edge.
Good lesson.

Most of the BMV reports I get are smash and grab. they take there chances if it's going to be a hit or miss. one thing I have learned, some of the more educated crooks will use stickers to judge what truck and cars to hit. If you have numerous deer hunting or NRA or keep honking am reloading type stickers on your truck well you just advertised that there is a high chance you have guns in your vehicle.
As an LE please don't leave thousands of dollars in your vehicle, don't leave two or three pistols in there, or I pads and other expensive computer equipment.
this stuff happens lighting fast, there is a gym in my district that I have to roll thru about every 30 min to try keep BMV's down. Last night right after I left 10 minutes later they hit two cars and we're gone with multiple pistols and iPad and iPhone and money!! With the start of summer this stuff only gets worse.

About all you can do is try to keep everything hidden or locked up in a tool box and hope the thieves skip your vehicle for something easier. In my area most thefts are people just doing smash and grabs as they go down a street so a locked steel tool box is frequently skipped. We are also starting to see the professionals using code readers to record vehicle key codes that they then use to unlock the vehicle to rob or steal it.

I could go all Taliban on thieves and saw off their hands. I hate them with a passion. I use my truck for work and it's loaded with tools. I have a burglar alarm, yes I know it won't stop a quickie thief and people are used to hearing them blare endlessly. But I also put a motion detector in the cab. Any motion and I am alerted. Mine is in my driveway so just seconds away.
