Hey guys. We’ll my 2011 screw 3.5 died. Engine had a catostrophic oil leak. Selling it now as is and looking to buy a newer F150. Strongly looking at a 2016 xlt sport with a 5.0 My only concern is the gearing is 3:31. I tow a dump trailer quite often and am wondering if it’s the wrong choice. What do you guys that have 3:31 think about it. Thanks Trev

Wouldn’t get less than 3.55 gears in the 5.0. Either more or get an Ecoboost.

I have 2. Little one is 2400lbs and big one weighs 4100lbs empty. The most I’ve ever hauled to the dump was a little under 2 ton in the big trailer. With my ‘11 ecoboost. That’s still less than the specs say the ‘16 5.0 3:31 can haul

If I was going to buy the 5.0 and using it for what you are I would only buy the 3.73 rear end. Maybe, maybe the 3.55 if I was getting the bargain of the century.

I would say the 3:73 rear is what you need but when the guy above said get an ecoboost, surely he wasn't saying the 2.7 and I bet you don't want another 3.5 leaker.
