Trim melted - sun in mirror?
Hello All
My first post. I’ve got a 13 F150, it was parked in the yard here in MA a week ago, I noticed melted trim as seen in pictures. I suspect this was from Low angle sun on the mirror, probably the small mirror on the larger side mirror. See the pics. Anyone have a similar story?

I guess anything is possible, but I wouldn't expect a low sun to be able to get that angle off 'your' mirror....and if so, I don't know how it could possibly be that hot. Midday sun in the summer, maybe, but doubtful or we'd probably see more posts.
If it was from a sun reflection, I would expect it to have been from different, larger surface, that was somewhat convex to concentrate the light/heat. Good luck figuring that one out!
For fun, to work out the angle from your mirror to that spot, use a flashlight to see what angle would be required.

First post I've seen like this. I would assume that the inner part of the mirror casing would of melted as well considering they-re made out of the same plastic. Is it possible you were parked close to a larger mirror on a building or something? Try parking in that same spot and check to see if the sun will hit that spot again.

It was in a rural area, no glass buildings around, not vandalism, only thing I can think is trucks mirror or mirror from van parked next to it?
I will check how sun would hit it with a flashlight
Very mysterious

The freaking sun is melting my siding on my house in 2 spots. One side from the sun reflection off my neighbors house a good 200 yards away. You will be surprised how powerful the Suns reflection is on plastic. Google it, it will amaze you.

I wouldn't doubt for a second that it could be the sun reflecting off your mirror.
The sun is constantly moving, so it must have moved into the right angle to direct the light onto the trim.
As it moves, the angle changes, the intensity of the reflection will change, and wouldn't affect other areas.
Does this mean I should by mirror covers for the summer? lol
