Default Repeat fixes?

Just seeing if anyone has had to get this replaced a second time? Mine has 27k and I am replacing for the first time. Do I need to dump the truck before the power train warranty runs out or are the replacement pumps holding up better than the originals?

Default The yellow wrench signal

I have a 2015 Ford Lariat 3.5 Ecco Boost , 6 speed tranny, FX4 , max tow package,

So about a year ago the yellow wrench warning signal started showing up. But it would not come on after the engine was turned off and then started again.

Talked to the dealer twice and they could not find any messages and told me they would have to see the truck when the wrench warning signal was on. The wrench warning light came on about 4 times over a 6 month period.

Then, my transmission went out. The reason was the bushing on the front transmission pump seized.

Rebuilt the transmission. Since the rebuild was done, the wrench warning light has not showed up again. And it has been 6 months. So it seems that there is a failure in the system of the on board diagnostics.

Shouldn't it have kept the error code that created the wrench warning light to come on?

What is the best way to get this info to a Ford Tech rep? Would have been much nicer for me to have it fixed before it went out and much cheaper for Ford as well.

Appreciate any comments and recommendations.
Love the truck...

Default

2015 F150, 2WD, short-bed, standard cab, XL, 3.31 regular rear axle, 2.7L Ecoboost and 6-speed transmission with auto start-stop. Wrench light and message "see manual" appeared on my dash. When cleared off, a wrench symbol appears below the main screen area. Manual states that the vehicle computer detects a power train failure. Researching the web reveals very few TSBs (reported problems) with F150s and 2.7L Ecoboost as compared to the 3.5L or the 5.0L. I saw absolutely no TSBs regarding either of the base engines from 2015 on, but that might be due to the fact that very few F150s are sold with the base power train.

Just as reported by some others, the culprit in my case was the Transmission Auxiliary Pump, part #FL3Z-7P086-B. Mine failed after 2 yrs nine months and with 33,510 miles on the odometer. I purchased my pickup new. The dealer had my truck in their shop for 7 hrs and replaced the part listed above and transmission fluid and test drove. Dealer rep said that this is a common problem with the 2.7L but it's the only reason he has seen this power train throw this code; that he sees many more 3.5L with this same code but for different problems. The only noticeable actual affect on performance of my truck when this happened was that the start-stop was inactive until the part was replaced, however, I drove it only twice during this period; both times to the dealership, as it first showed up on my way towards the dealership. Dealer rep said that the price would have been from $900-$1,000 if it had been my expense. The price of the part via many internet stores for the genuine Ford part is around $240.

I don't think this is a wear issue, as I live in a rural area and work in even a more rural area, and so my start-stop system is not worked very hard. However, I rarely turn it off.

I've got a 2007 Saturn Aura with the other type of start-stop system. The kind with the hybrid batteries and generator. The car's start-stop runs off a 36 volt system and also provides some slight torque via the belt. Very similar to what Ram will offer in their eTorque system except eTorque will be 48 volt. The Saturn has been working eleven years without any hiccups except that it did have a recall in the early days to replace the three small batteries, but there has never been a failure in that system; not even once. The starter-generator system works much quicker and more seamlessly; no starter spinup; no delay. However, it is a more expensive system; a heavier system; and a more complex system than Ford's traditional battery and starter system, and from everything I can tell, does nothing more to save on fuel, despite the claim of added torque than Ford's system.

Anyway; I hope the second one doesn't fail in another 33,000 miles. I'm wondering if it even has to be replaced, since it automatically deactivated the start-stop system.

Default Failure after replacement

I have a 16 F150 Lariate w/2.7L and had mine auxiliary pump replaced is September or October of 22 and I am back to having problems with it again. Thankfully I bought a service agreement with the used truck and it covered the replacement the first time and since it's been less than a year from then it's now covered under manufacturers warranty for the part. It would be nice to not have these problems though!
