Trading in. Worth it?
Trading in.
Question is. Was the trade in worth it?!
I've heard people saying trading in is dumb.
"You paid for the truck, just keep it and then save up a little bit money for a down payment and then do payments, you're gonna have to do payments either way.
Keeping the truck is always a back up too.
And i always hear that dealerships never give uou the amount a truck is really worth.
So fellas, when you've traded in. You get a good deal?
In the deal, do you pretty much get the trade in as the down payment and then continue your payments? Or did you already have a truck, doing payments, they paid it off. And they gave you a certain amount still. Or what was your deal?!

I just traded in my 07 xlt 4x4 for a 12 fx4 and I owed $6k and they gave me 18k for my truck so after it was paid off the rest was toward as down payment.

Alright, so let's get this straight. You got 18k. Still owed 6k. So 12k to your new truck. How much was youre new truck?
How much did you get your truck to start with?

Truck was listed at 43k. Out the door I'm looking at after talking em down and the down payment I should be at 28-29 as I still haven't fully signed the real papers as their working on getting the truck in hopefully this week so I can sign the real papers.

Trading is worth it right now as Ford has a 750 trade rebate. If the dealer gives you KBB trade value, you should get as good of deal as selling it private party when you factor in the savings on sales tax and the rebate.

Until Ferbuary, I have never traded a vehicle in because "I can get more selling it myself".
I never before considered that (in Texas) you pay sales tax based on the net number - New purchase, less trade-in.
I drive my vehicles 5-7 years normally. Based on this, you can usually get around $2000 less for trade-in than selling your self.
My most recent deal was a $37,000 truck with a $10,000 trade-in.
If I had sold the trade-in myself, I could probably have gotten $12,000.
With Sales Tax at 6.25%, the new truck would have had $2,312 in taxes added. With the trade-in, taxes would have been $1,687. Difference of $625. Then with a trade-in rebate of $750, I am now up to $1375.
If I sold my truck myself and if I was able to get $12,000, I would have made another $625. When I took in to account, the cost to sell (advertisement, park and sell lot, etc), I was OK to let the $625 go and not have to deal with selling myself.

Do u have kids, cousins, or a teenager that u know? If so sell it to them
