Default TPMS question

I have a 2011 FX4, I am putting on new wheels and tires. If i do NOT install the TPMS. Will the truck recognize this and show a warning everytime I turn the key to drive?

Thanks in advanced!!!

Im new to the F150 forum, there is some great info on the forum, I cant wait to start to do some mods!!!

Just move your TPMS to the new wheels.

Yea it will throw a code. You are just better off buying new sensors if you plan on keep your old rims and tires. When I got mine I think the sensors were like an extra $175 I think.

or you can do like I did and put a small piece of electric tape over the TPMS warning light so you don't have to look at it..

Switch the sensors to the new tires. Ford puts thier sensors 180 degrees from the valve stem in the center of the rim held on with a band clamp. The factory band clamp is crimped and not reusable but you can get reusable clamps at Napa for $35 each.

Someone mentioned Ford makes reproduction sensors that go into the valve stems but I havent seen them personally.

I read about a guy who put the sensors in a wheelbarrow tire and threw it in his toolbox, just keep the tire pumped to 35 PSI.

yup, you get a message every time you start-up and sometimes every 20 miles after that, no big deal you just hit "ok" and it goes away

also i believe they are stem mounted sensors not band mounted

I drove around two full days last week on my new tires/wheels before the TPMS warning finally went off...

Wonder why it took so long ??
